Seether frontman Shaun Morgan says even though he continues to be tormented by the Evanescence track “Call Me When You’re Sober,” he refuses to stoop to ex-girlfriend Amy Lee’s level.
Morgan recently told MTV, “People would say to me, ‘Yeah, man, I know what you’re going through,’ and I was like, ‘No, I don’t think you do.’ Your ex-girlfriend didn’t write a song about you, that millions of people have heard, saying you’re a bad guy. As soon as that happens, buddy, come up and tell me you know what I’m going through.
I was bummed out. I was really upset that she would say and do those things. In any relationship, I don’t think it’s right to say and do those things when people break up, and she obviously felt the need to go out there and make me sound like a complete a–hole. What can I do? I just refuse to lower myself to that level. But it was a painful thing and it got me down — people coming up to me on the street and referring to that song. But I didn’t feel the need to write back and be mean.”
Evanescence is transforming the stage for the Family Values tour into a funhouse.
Frontwoman Amy Lee says, “There’s gonna be a whole wall of mirrors, sort of like fun house mirrors, and a whole bunch of lights playing off the mirrors. It should be really trippy and weird.”

I want to give a special thanks to our italian fans. I think alot of you have heard about this by now, but they showed up at our show in Piza with a custom guitar they all chipped in on and had made for Terry with his name on it, and they bought us an actual STAR. There is now a star in the sky called Evanescence- RAD! Besides that there were tons presents, including my favorite thing, a giant book full of fan letters, pictures of our times together and art. Then they proceeded to totally freak out all night and give us an incredible show, which we honestly thought might suck considering we were playing in some weird little dusty lot next to a warehouse in the middle of nowhere. So once again, you guys RULED. Thank you so much- you will always be very special to us.
love,
amy
Amy Lee spoke recently about how the firing of members Rocky Gray and John LeCompt in favor of Will Hunt and Troy McLawhorn has had a major positive impact on the band. Says Lee, “when we’re up there now we’re having a lot of fun, and I think when you’re on stage and you’re in a rock band playing in front of 10,000 people you should be having fun.
“Troy and Will are both very passionate and creative. It’s given the show the ability to grow and evolve. We’re changing things more often now and getting more creative with the set. It’s really given the band the kick start it needed.”
Lee says that playing live is more fun with the new line-up and that she can also see potential in writing songs with the new members. McLawhorn and Hunt both moved to Evanescence from the band Dark New Day, though Lee says that she has no problem with them still working with their old group. As for Evanescence, their currently gearing up for a headlining spot on the annual Family Values Tour.
Evanescence is getting to play in countries that it’s never visited before on its current tour, with trips scheduled for later this month to Russia and the Middle East, among other places. Singer Amy Lee told Launch she’s looking forward to performing for new audiences. “We’re going to Israel and Turkey and Russia and Scotland, and we’ve never been to any of those places,” she said. “We actually just hit South Africa and South America and we’d never been to either of those places either, so it’s very cool.”
Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee hates visiting England, because it brings her out in an allergic reaction.
The rocker claims the entire country and its people disagrees with her so much, she ends up bright red and coughing and spluttering as soon as she touches down on English soil.
Lee explains, “My allergies are worse in England than anywhere else in the world!”
“I remember I was signing autographs and as the kids were coming down the line my face was bright red and I was sneezing all over the autographs. I was just miserable!”
