As you may have heard, former Evanescence members Ben, Rocky and John have a new band called “The Fallen” (don’t even get me started on that name) and it seems that the press are a little confused about the whole thing. To clear up some things, Amy wrote the following message on Evthreads.com:
There’s some pretty weird stuff flying around right now and I’d like to clear up some confusion in the press. As our fans already know, Ben Moody left Evanescence in 2003. Evanescence came out with a follow-up to Fallen in 2006. It was called The Open Door and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and reached platinum status in just over a month. The Open Door has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. We’re currently working on new material that I’m extremely excited about. I believe that to make great music you have to give yourself the freedom to evolve. I don’t see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, stronger, and more interesting than before. That takes time, but it’s worth the wait for me. Hopefully, it will be for the fans too. Look out for new music next year…
This new promo for “Legends and Lyrics” has hit the Internet and it features a short interview clip with Amy, as well as part of her “Bring Me To Life” performance. Her voice sounds AMAZING and I LOVE this version of the song, it’s awesome! Look out for Amy around the 1 minute mark.
How cool is this?! It’s vintage Evanescence! Recently there was an eBay auction for a very rare concert from 1999, before they made it big. The band, and a very young and cute looking Amy Lee, performed 11 songs (including an unknown track) at Vino’s, Little Rock Arkansas.
Setlist:
01. Intro
02. Whisper (Origin version)
03. Imaginary (EP version)
04. Where Will You Go (EP version)
05. Unknown song
06. Exodus
07. Give Unto Me
08. Don’t Fear the Reaper
09. Understanding (Sound Asleep version)
10. Lies
11. Solitude
You can watch the entire concert HERE – Happy watching! =)
The site finally has a new look! Since there’s not much going on lately in the world of Evanescence, I thought I’d change the layout. There’s still a few things to do to it but I hope you all like it =)
Amy wrote a new message on Evthreads a few days ago. It’s a nice long message and in it she talks a lot about the closing of record stores and tells a little story from when Fallen was released. She also talks about Legends & Lyrics and briefly mentions the new music she’s working on!! Amy should get on twitter so us fans can follow her and see how it’s going with the new music ;)
Hey everybody.
I just wanted to check in and say hi. I saw all the stuff about “evanescence day” and didn’t realize it was the anniversary of our first major release! Six years!? It feels all that was a lifetime ago. I remember the day it came out, we were in Seattle on tour and we walked down to a local record store, which is crazy in itself now that those are basically extinct, and bought a copy apiece. Actually I bought 2 copies for extra luck. I don’t really remember much from around then- its a blur. But I remember that there was a poster of our album cover in the window of the little place, and that was a big deal. I took a picture.
Anthony Raneri, who is the lead singer in rock band Bayside, posted this picture on his blog last month. Amy is in the background blowing bubbles. And yes, that really is her, she just cut her hair. I was surprised to read a lot of comments from fans on various sites saying they can’t believe she cut her hair, that she’s no longer a proper rock chick etc. etc. Wow guys, it’s just a haircut! And I happen to think it really suits her and I think she looks incredibly cute!
Anyway, this is what Anthony had to say about this photo:
Awesome night tonight. Me and Nicole went out for an awesome steak dinner and a movie with our good friends Josh and Amy. We saw the Wrestler. It was great. See it too. Here’s us at the end of the night at Josh and Amy’s.
Amy Lee will be featured on an upcoming episode of “Legends & Lyrics”, a unique musical performance series showcasing the art of songwriting. Each show is a mixture of famous recording artists from all genres who write their own hit songs as well as the professional song poets they sometimes depend on to write hit songs for them.
Lee will be accompanied by Evanescence guitarist Terry Balsamo during the performance, which will be taped on February 23 in Nashville, Tennessee.
“Legends & Lyrics” is distributed and presented by American Public Television and will appear on PBS stations nationwide starting April 2009 (check local listings).
Amy recently appeared on stage with Paula Cole at one of the singer’s shows. Paula posted a message on her myspace about Amy and you can read it below.
Befriending Amy
Just wanted to mention how lucky I’ve been to get to know Amy Lee. I remember the moment I heard her voice (while at a spin class feeling the hate and then that VOICE delivered me!) Well, come to find out she’s a great heart and a music geek like myself (!)We’ve bonded a bit in friendship and music: we found ourselves discussing and loving songs, trying ideas together.
I love the intensity of our two voices together. Really, it’s quite the energy-vitamin shot. So, I had the fortune of her presence at my last show in Long Island. We sang a couple of covers (Neil Young and a traditional Appalachian song). Loved it, loved it, loved it. Thank you, Amy, and hope there is more where that came from.
The Gauntlet recently sat down with Amy to talk about Disneyland! No, not really, but both Amy and the interviewer seemed to love Disneyland and since Amy had just been, it was the thing to talk about. Aside from that Amy of course talks about “Sally’s Song” and about what’s next for her – solo album or film scoring? No Evanescence by the sounds of it. Read the entire interview below and after the jump:
The Gauntlet: What’s new with you?
Amy Lee: Everything is good. I have been in New York for four days now since all the ‘Nightmare’ stuff in LA.
The Gauntlet: When you say ‘nightmare’ are you referring to the week in LA was a nightmare or you were here just promoting the Nightmare Revisited album?
