New Evanescence song arrives    ·    August 3rd, 2006

The new Evanescence single, “Call Me When You’re Sober,” arrived on the Internet this week via AOL Music and is making its way to radio stations. A video for the track will debut on MTV on August 7th, with singer Amy Lee describing the clip as a “modern re-imagining” of the Little Red Riding Hood story. As for the song itself, Lee told us that it’s pretty self-explanatory: “It was inspired by a lot of people in my life towards the end of last year, and a lot of the drama that was going on. I don’t want to say anyone’s names particularly, because I feel like that’s really mean, but I think it’s something everyone can relate to. I think the title kind of says it all.”

“Call Me When You’re Sober” comes off the band’s second major label album, The Open Door, which is due out on October 3rd.

Lee broke up with Seether frontman Shaun Morgan last fall after a two-year relationship. Morgan pulled Seether off the road and checked himself into rehab last week for unspecified substance abuse issues.

The Open Door will feature the songwriting debut of former Cold guitarist Terry Balsamo, who replaced co-founder Ben Moody in late 2003.

Touring plans for The Open Door, as well as a replacement for recently departed bassist William Boyd, are yet to be unveiled.

Amy posts on evboard    ·    August 3rd, 2006

hey guys. glad your digging the single, and thinking so deeply into it- its awesome. I just want to make 2 things clear- wind up didnt choose this single- I did, and I had to fight for it. I love this song. Also, they didnt change anything about it. This is the way we made it. We fought over the guitar part but eventually just got the mix right. Thanks for all of the attention! (positive or negative- its all good)

Brand Spanking New Evanescence Fan Forum :D    ·    August 2nd, 2006

I’ve been getting e-mails from people requesting a forum on this site because there aren’t many English Evanescence forums out there (apart from Evboard but a lot of people seem to dislike that place now), so I decided to make one =) I only just finished it so there are zero posts/threads, lol, but I’m hoping you guys will sign up, start posting and spread the word =)
There’s still a lot of things I wanna add to the forum to make it better but I’ll let it grow for a bit first. Check out the forum here

Oh and I’ve changed the layout (which you probably already noticed lol), I hope you like it. I’m probably gonna keep changing the layout because I can never make one I’m 100% satisfied with, hehe, but this will do for now. =D

Evanescence’s Amy Lee Isn’t Afraid Of Big Bad Wolf In ‘Sober’ Clip    ·    July 31st, 2006

Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee’s not afraid of the Big Bad wolf. Nor is she afraid of a room filled with them.

In fact, in a clip for “Call Me When You’re Sober,” the first single from the band’s upcoming The Open Door, Lee actually gets a little forceful with a “wolf.”

“These live wolves came in, and they each had trainers and it was really fun,” she said on the video’s Hollywood set earlier this month. Marc Webb (AFI, My Chemical Romance) signed on to direct the clip. “I thought it was really cool, but then when they came in, they were 150 pounds. So I was like, ‘Wow, if I got on all fours, I’d be about the same size as this huge animal.’ But it was me and the wolves in the room, and it was all cool. It was awesome. My allergies kicked in, but I powered through. And then we shot the scene at the vanity with the Big Bad Wolf coming over my shoulders and trying to seduce me.”

The video, set to debut August 7 on MTV, features Lee wearing a red satin cape and sitting at an antiquated vanity. A young man — with crystal blue eyes and scruffy, overgrown facial hair and sideburns — approaches her from behind, caressing her shoulders and softly kissing her neck as she tries to rebuff his advances.

Evanescence Completes Work On ‘Call Me When You’re Sober’ Video    ·    July 29th, 2006

Evanescence’s video for “Call Me When You’re Sober”, the first single from the band’s upcoming “The Open Door” CD, will debut August 7 on MTV. According to MTV.com, the clip features singer Amy Lee wearing a red satin cape and sitting at an antiquated vanity. A young man — with crystal blue eyes and scruffy, overgrown facial hair and sideburns — approaches her from behind, caressing her shoulders and softly kissing her neck as she tries to rebuff his advances.

“The song is so literal, the lyrics and everything — I mean, obviously, just by the title — that we felt like the video would have the freedom to go in a less literal direction,” she explained. “So it’s [a modern re-imagining of] Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf and sort of a more cool, superhero, rock and roll Little Red Riding Hood.”

The debut of the “Call Me When You’re Sober” clip will precede the October 3 release of “The Open Door”, the follow-up to EVANESCENCE’s 2003 breakthrough, “Fallen”. The video is not expected to feature bassist William Boyd, who recently jumped the EVANESCENCE ship.

The song’s subject matter, Lee said, involves “something that everyone’s been through” — the frustration of “dealing with someone with an addiction, which is really hard, especially when you love someone.” Lee’s not so used to writing songs with literal meanings, though.

“It’s very new for us, and it’s fun, actually,” she said. “This album, I sort of pushed all my limits and did all the things maybe I wasn’t brave enough to do the last time or just that I’m older now and more mature and — I don’t know — a better writer. I worked a lot harder and I think that the songs are better and I’m excited. I wish the album was coming out next week.

“I feel like I have the ability to do a lot of things I couldn’t do before, for a number of reasons,” she continued. “As a musician, I feel like I can just do whatever. This album is completely the way I wanted it to be on every level, and it’s more of me and it’s more of my writing. A lot of doors have kind of been opened in my life — not just since everything has happened for us. But lately, I have kind of just learned to go, ‘OK, that’s it,’ and cut a few ties and move away — learn how to say ‘No’ and look for happiness.”
