Evanescence rocker Amy Lee turned herself into a control freak after growing sick of people making the wrong decisions for her. The ‘Fallen’ hitmaker became distrustful of those around her and feared bad advice would wreck the band’s career. Now she controls everything in her life and wants to focus on being happy. She says, “I started seeing a long time ago that decisions that weren’t being made by me, but around me, for me, weren’t always good decisions. I had to step up and take control or everything was going to blow up in my face.

“Now I do everything. The music writing I am a total control freak over, and the mixing and everything we do. I’ve grown up in a lot of ways. I feel like I listen to Fallen and I hear me saying ’save me from the dark’ now I feel like ’stop whining’. I don’t want to be stuck unhappy; I want to be happy. I want to solve the problem and now it’s about fixing the problem, not ‘Oh poor me’.”

Yep, it’s been confirmed that Amy will be presenting at the VMA’s which this Thursday, Aug. 31 at 8pm ET on MTV. I hate MTV for not letting Evanescence perform, but at least we’ll see them there.

Evanescence has announced an on-sale date of August 19th for tickets to the upcoming first leg of its world tour. Beginning in Toronto, Ontario on October 5th, the rock group, featuring Amy Lee (vocals, piano), Terry Balsamo (guitar), John LeCompt (guitar) and Rocky Gray (drums), will perform seventeen North American dates plus a live performance at the MTV Video Music Awards Latin in Mexico City before heading overseas for a second leg in Europe. A complete list of shows with an on-sale August 19th is listed below.

On October 3rd, the band will release the much-anticipated album, The Open Door on Wind-up Records. Evanescence’s second studio album follows its debut Fallen, and the live DVD/CD Anywhere But Home. Combined, the two titles have sold in excess of fifteen million copies worldwide.
