It doesn’t take a psychotherapist to know that Evanescence’s Amy Lee has been something of a troubled soul.

Even as a teenager, well before her goth rock band released its debut album Fallen which would go on to sell 14 million copies, Lee’s mother worried about the dark tone of her lyrics and suggested she try some counselling. Then there were the dreams.

Recently – after a horror three years during which her childhood friend Ben Moody left the band they founded, his replacement Terry Balsamo suffered a stroke and a management wrangle dragged through the courts – she turned to a therapist.

“She showed me recurring themes in my dreams in which everything seems like normal life,” Lee says.

“For example, I’m in the garage hammering something and then I see a giant killer ant cross the floor and I know deep down that there is something under the floorboards.

“So I rip up the floorboard and it is covered with an entire carpet of these killer ants.

“Or I’m ice skating and everything is great, and then I look and there are sharks under the ice.

“There is always something looming under the surface. I don’t really feel that way right now, but I think that is my natural self – I am always waiting for the catch.”

Evanescence lead singer Amy Lee called her family in Little Rock last week with some exciting news. She’s engaged. Dad John tells Paper Trails that Amy, 25, has known her 28-year-old fiance, Josh, since her high school days in Little Rock. He attended Arkansas Baptist, has a master’s degree and is employed by a Christian organization in New York working with chemically dependent patients.

John reports that Josh, who’s also a writer, lives in New York (as does Amy), and the pair have been dating for about 1 1/2 years. And Josh is apparently an old-fashioned kind of guy. He asked John for Amy’s hand a couple of weeks ago while the two men were walking together in Manhattan. At that time, Josh confided to John that he was awaiting an antique ring, expected it to arrive while the band was in Japan, and that he’d pop the question there. Instead, Josh proposed earlier, a few nights ago in Canada. “I guess the ring must have arrived early and it was burning a hole in Josh’s pocket,” says John. “And, yes, he got down on his knee.” The pair aren’t planning a rush to the altar but will instead enjoy their engagement for awhile, predicts John.

Evanescence has announced the second leg of U.S. dates on their World Tour. The rock group, featuring Amy Lee, Terry Balsamo, John LeCompt, Rocky Gray, and Tim McCord, will perform 14 dates in arenas. The dates will go on-sale on Saturday, January 27th. The tour kicks off in Fresno, CA on March 16th and runs across the U.S. with the final show scheduled for April 5th in Glens Falls, NY. Chevelle and Finger Eleven will join Evanescence on this tour. A complete list of shows announced today is listed below. Evanescence is also planning a third U.S. leg which will bring the band to arenas in major markets in the late spring/early summer.

According to evthreads.com, Amy confirmed at a concert that ‘All That I’m Living For‘ is going to be the third single off The Open Door.

Rocker Amy Lee is taking a stand.

The 25-year-old Evanescence frontwoman, who recently became engaged to a New York therapist, says she’s no longer going to allow people to bully or insult her.

That’s something Lee admits won’t be easy.

“I am the kind of person who takes things to heart when people are just being insensitive or being rude, but I’m getting better. Someone was sitting in a car recently, and they just yelled at me and screamed at me out the window. I realized if that had happened to me like maybe three years ago, I would have probably cried and thought about it all day.

“But now, I’m just kind of like, ‘Ouch.’ It made me mad for, like, 15 minutes and then I was over it.”

Last month a video surfaced on YouTube which shows Lee’s ex-boyfriend, former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody, with singers Kelly Clarkson and Matt Zane vandalizing what they said was Lee’s house with toilet paper.

While the video was likely meant to be hurtful, thanks to her new confidence, Lee says she wasn’t upset by it (it wasn’t even her house) and actually found the whole stunt amusing.
