EVANESCENCE Singer Not Surprised That Bassist Quit    ·    September 30th, 2006

Launch Radio Networks reports: Evanescence recorded its new album, “The Open Door”, while dealing with its guitarist having a stroke, a legal battle with its former manager, and singer Amy Lee’s public break-up with Seether’s Shaun Morgan. Then just as the project was completed, bassist Will Boyd decided it was time for him to exit. Lee told Launch she was saddened but not totally surprised by Boyd’s departure. “Will had been sort of estranged ’cause he’d been doing a lot of stuff at home, and kind of getting comfortable staying close to home and feeling like the closer tour got, the less he wanted to go,” she said. “I get it, he just didn’t want to do the big, crazy, sacrifice your life tour again. We all understand that, we all get sick of tour sometimes. But that’s just who Will is. He’s kind of a homebody and I love him.”

The group recently recruited The Revolution Smile bassist Tim McCord to replace Boyd.

“The Open Door” comes out this Tuesday (October 3). The entire album is streaming online at AOL Music, which also recently posted a live acoustic performance of the first single, “Call Me When You’re Sober”.

Evanescence will appear on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” this Monday (October 2).

The band will hit the road for a 17-date tour beginning on October 5 in Toronto, with a larger-scale trek expected to follow.
