Evanescence singer Amy Lee is still mad at herself for staying in an abusive romance with ex Ben Moody for three years – because her own lyrics were telling her it was time to move on. The couple, who formed the goth-rock group together, split shortly before Moody quit the band in 2003, and Lee has never been happier. But she accepts she could have been happier a lot earlier in her life if she’d taken heed of the songs she wrote with Moody.
She tells America’s Spin magazine, “After I recorded those songs, I was listening to my own words on ‘Going Under’. When it goes to the chorus, what I would have loved to hear myself sing is, ‘I’m leaving and I’m not going to put up with this anymore.’ But instead the line is, ‘I’m going under, drowning in you.’ “I was thinking to myself, ‘You know what you need to do, and you’re not doing it.’” Lee admits the night she heard her ex was planning to quit the group in the middle of a tour, she refused to beg him to stay. She adds, “Ben is all about the drama. He’s done a lot of irrational things, so you learn not to be surprised by anything.
“Ben was a really unhappy person. When you’re miserable, you don’t want anyone around you to be happy. So, with him gone, we felt like a weight had been lifted. I have pictures from that day. We all look giddy.” Lee admits she hasn’t spoken to Moody since meeting him briefly at the Grammy Awards in 2004. Moody, now an in-demand songwriter, declined to comment for the Spin article. Lee signs off on her relationship with Moody on new track ‘The Last Song I’m Wasting On You’.

Hey… I thought they were best friends. Where are you getting your info. Lee was dating Morgan while Ben was still in the band, and there’s no way the two of them could’ve been dating. Please help me out here, i’m a wee bit confuzzled. Thanx

No need to worry, Laura. If you put every single piece of info we have up to now about this whole Ben/Amy thing, you’ll realize something is fishy about it all.

Amy talks about the “abusive boyfriend” already back then, while talking about Ben at the same time. If you want to be even more confuzzled, just read this article and continue to ponder.
We don’t know the truth. Only Amy and Ben know what REALLY happened. And Ben denies ever having “abused” Amy. She also never clearly stated he was the bad guy. So, we can’t know what it’s all about.

Sometimes mental abuse is worse than a slap or a punch in the arm. We all know this. I personally have followed all of the contravercy since it started and can safely say that Amy and Ben are better off apart. Otherwise how could they have made such beautiful music apart? I have heard both of their works and have enjoyed them both. Why can’t everyone else do the same? be happy with it, and stop trying to find the bee in the bonnet that does not exsist. Love u Amy.

It’s so weird…when you look at ben in old Evanescence pics–it’s like he looks so sweet but the thought of him hurting someone’s mind or body is just weird.You know what it’s his hair…it makes him look innocent,like everything good in the world happened cause of him.–this is a joke,i’m a fan of Evanescence only!

Hi, alot of people have gone through an abusive relationship, but getting out of it, is what makes the person wiser, and stronger. I’m glad that Amy can finally move on now, and be with someone else who will make her happy, and treat her the way she deserves to be treated!! Congrats to Amy and Josh!!!

Hey you all.. Im gonna make this quick, i agree with many of you, but i had no idea about the whole ben and amy romance.. But as you said, we dont know the truth, so we will never know for sure whats going on… But i love Amy lee and the music she and her bandmates make!! You all that agree with me, you ROCK!!!
